Eli Tomac (born November 14, 1992) is an American Motocross and Supercross racer. In 2022, Tomac joined the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team and demolished the competition, becoming the 2022 SX Champion, the 2022 MX Champion, and the 2022 MXON Team USA Champion, riding his Yamaha YZ450F. That year, he also took home the 2022 Best Athlete, Men’s Action Sports ESPY Award. Son of mountain bike legend John Tomac, he began racing at 15 and quickly won multiple amateur national championships. When Tomac made the jump to pro in 2010, he became the first racer to win the first professional race he entered: the 2010 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross season opener at Hangtown.
In 2012, Tomac won the 250cc Supercross Championship, and part way through the 2013 season, he made his 450cc SX debut, moving to that class full-time in 2014. 2013 was also a massive year for Tomac in Motocross, as he took home the AMA Pro Motocross Championship crown, too. By 2016, Tomac had signed with the Kawasaki factory team and continued to amass victories, taking home three more AMA Pro Motocross Championship crowns (2017, 2018, 2019) and a Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 450SX crown with the team. After an epic 2022, early in 2023—for the seventh time overall and fifth consecutively—Tomac won the race most riders in the field equate to NASCAR’s Daytona 500—the Daytona Supercross. Fittingly, he tied the “King of Daytona,” Richard Petty for seven wins at the iconic track and is currently one of the three winningest SX racers of all time.
